When Dave Geiss of Officescape left the corporate world after 24 years, he found it difficult to decide what to do next
“You’re kind of on your own as an entrepreneur and you have to do all these things that were done for you at one time by professionals … it becomes very distracting,” he said.
After some trial and error, Geiss and his business partner took a long, hard look at what exactly they thought someone with a home- based business needed to be successful.
They came up with an idea to create a business centre that would be more than just a real estate transaction.
This led to the founding of Officescape, a boutique style business centre located in Markham, Ontario.
Today, Officescape offers a host of services, including full-time office space, on-demand office rentals, access to meeting rooms with an hourly rate, virtual office services and more.
“We give your business a professional image beyond real estate. (We’re) the whole package,” Geiss said.

Geiss said that launching something from nothing, and creating business, opportunity and jobs, makes all the effort worth it.
“Seeing small businesses flourish
… (when) they’ve really become successful and are growing, that’s the most rewarding thing,” he said.
With all the success Officescape has found, it is looking to expand in the near future and open more centres in the communities surrounding Toronto.
